The winners have been announced, drumroll please…. And the winners are:
Well Holy God Biddy. So that absolutely daft idea to set up green mega data centres by father and son Cianán Clancy and Colm MacFhlannachadha has won (So I guess MacFhlannachadha is the Irish for Clancy then). Now what is this idea exactly? I did a review of it and pointed out some of the flaws.  The biggest flaw goes back to my central point about the whole competition. To carry out this proposal would cost tens of millions at the very least. Renewable energy is still incredible inefficient so the idea of powering data centres with fucking wind turbines is just stupid.
This is an idea that should be thrown out to private industry. The fact is that no one in private industry would be stupid enough to attempt this, well not for the next 100 years anyway when renewable energy might be somewhere close to fossil fuels. Unless the oil was to dry up then this idea is simply for the birds. And guess what? There’s loads of oil left despite what the green heads would like you to believe.
The other idea is for a global media hub based in Ireland. Yup Neil Leydon wants to join some fucking dots apparently and make Ireland some sort of media brand. Now who the fuck is Neil Leydon? Here is his website. Now Caligula saw something very interesting yesterday on his site.
Neil Leyden is a media consultant, screenwriter and entrepreneur. He is the prime mover behind the International Content Services Centre, an initiative which aims to make Ireland a global content management destination that streamlines the storage, localization, delivery and distribution of content, the associated rights management, clearance and collection to provide a global service for national and international clients. The initiative is now part of the programme of Government for Ireland and set to begin implementation in the latter part of 2010.
Wait a second, the initiative is already part of the programme of Government for the latter part of 2010? This was written BEFORE he was declared as one of the winners. So what the fuck is going on here? I’m not a conspiracy theorist but this looks highly fucking suspicious. Either there is something really fucking sinister going on within the competition or else Leydon has been lobbying the government for ages about his idea and has used this to leverage his proposal in the competition. He seemed pretty adamant from the above statement that the government were already committed to his idea. So if the government were already committed then why was there a need for him to enter the competition?
But anyway, so these guys have won €100,000 and both ideas will receive €500,000 for development. Regarding the green data centre. Well to install just one commercial sized wind turbine would cost well over €1,000,000. Oh dear, so that’s doubled the budget already. Oh well, I guess the stupid bastard tax payers will have to pay for it.
To create a global media hub would also cost a fortune. Leydon predicts the creation of 95,000 jobs, a figure which he shat out of his wind powered arse. Now I’m going to drift off into some parallel fucked up universe here and say this is actually a viable idea. Now 95,000 jobs is roughly 5% of the entire workforce of Ireland. So can that significant a percentage of jobs be created for less than half the income of Ireland’s former top paid civil servant Michael Somers?
Well Leydon must be some sort of fucking fairy if he thinks that’s possible. But I don’t blame him. I blame the whole bloody competition. The guy has won a lot of money so fair play to him. And fair play to the bilingual father and son outfit.
So my original assertion holds true. This competion was set out to be nothing more than a lobby group to pester the government. If I were one of the companies that contributed to the prize fund then I’d be pretty pissed off. But hang on a minute. I have contributed. I’m a tax payer and myself and my fellow tax payers are apparently giving €300,000 to this fucking thing. And that’s just the beginning of course. Eamon Ryan has given this competition his backing so that’s pretty much the nail in the coffin that will mean our money will definitely be wasted on all this bullshit.
Yup, so these assholes who ran the competition have really pulled a fast one here. Padraig McKeon must be feeling pretty smug along with Martin MacAleese and all those other fuckers who managed to hoodwink private companies and the public.
It’s your country and you’re fucked.

more green lunacy, ah well they just love to keep fcuking joe citizen.
